Jill Torigian combines over 35 years of international publishing experience with executive leadership and business development. Jill acquired her expertise in publishing through a natural curiosity and thirst for innovative practices, leading to her company’s growth in a field of highly competitive multinationals. Jill was at the forefront of the online publishing and Open Access Movement and was instrumental in launching The Journal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics online, one of the pioneering journals using Open Journal Systems as an online, open-access publication.
Academics and professionals who work closely with Jill admiringly refer to her unique characteristics of collaborator and visionary. This rare combination of attributes ensures practical solutions to relevant problems, while committing to creativity and innovation, inspiring clients and peers alike. Jill’s genuine and selfless commitment to the ongoing development of others has resulted in the accomplished SG Publishing team that remains together after more than 20 years. Whether it’s volunteering time to academic professionals chronicling their pursuits through personal publications, to friends wishing to share their gifts of insight and intrigue, or to a young student creating a children’s book that boldly shares her life’s challenges living with a debilitating disease, Jill finds the time to help others. Jill mentors young people newly placed in the business world, as well as young women about to enter what can be an intimidating and challenging new environment. Jill’s spiritual fulfillment is gleaned through fitness, music, cooking, and yoga.
Laura Hope
Co-Founder & Director of Publishing Services and Client Management
Laura Hope has over 20 years of scholarly publishing experience. As Director of Publishing Services and Client Management, Laura ensures that our publications benefit from the highest level of publishing and editorial services. She works closely with the SG Publishing team to ensure the needs of our clients are exceeded and constantly strives to enhance the publishing experience for editors, authors and reviewers. As an analytical and creative thinker, Laura generates effective initiatives and ideas designed to bring a fresh perspective on processes and to help shape the progression of new and existing publications. She loves working with societies and their Journal Editors to find practical solutions to help their publications grow and accomplish more than they even thought possible. Laura’s expertise extends to publishing policies and standards, publication and editorial ethics, copyright and open access policies, sustainable journal revenue models, publication marketing and social media, scholarly databases, as well as editorial workflow and production management.
Laura loves to travel and is a self-proclaimed foodie. When planning a trip, her whole itinerary is formed around where and what to eat. In another life, she could be a Disney travel agent… she has been to Disney World over 25 times and would love to go 25 more! Outside of SG Publishing, Laura enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters, which usually involves movie nights, cheering at soccer matches, and, well, food, of course.
Heather Seunath
Co-Founder & Director of Business Development and Marketing Strategies
Heather Seunath has over 20 years of experience in developing and implementing long-term strategies for publications for both Canadian and International journals. Throughout her career, she has been involved in all aspects of the publishing process, serving organizations and societies in health and social sciences. A dynamic and results-driven professional, Heather has a passion for developing and delivering innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of our clients. She is dedicated to understanding the needs of the research communities we serve and maintaining the highest quality standards and integrity in scholarly communications.
Heather’s expertise includes online publication platforms and peer review systems, open access and traditional publishing models, licensing, open access policies, journal marketing, social media, and maximizing content discoverability and exposure using scholarly indexing.
Outside of the office, you will find Heather enjoying time with her husband and running around with (or after) their two young children. Like her colleagues, Heather is a self-proclaimed foodie. She loves experimenting with new recipes, with a glass of fine wine nearby, or trying to score an invite to enjoy Jill or Laura’s cooking.
Sheila Dietrich
Production and Marketing Coordinator
As Production and Marketing Coordinator, Sheila Dietrich works closely with the SG Publishing team to support our clients and execute unique and personalized deliverables. With over 12 years of experience in the print and publishing fields, Sheila is familiar with the ins and outs of production from submission to publication and promotion.
Experienced with using Open Journal Systems for both new and existing journals, Sheila supports our Journal Editors with tailor-made peer review management solutions. While managing and monitoring the production process, she coordinates with the production team ensuring each issue is published on schedule with the optimal publishing quality our clients have come to expect.
With a background in graphic design, print, and customer service, Sheila also focuses on implementing special projects from development to completion. Whether a social media campaign, industry research, or client support, Sheila enjoys working with our clients through every step.
When she’s not managing production schedules, Sheila can either be found singing, curled up with a cat and a book, or off wielding a sword in a game of Dungeons & Dragons.
